Deck 1: Main

Gorgeous three story atrium on Nieuw Statendam.

Primarily staterooms, plus quiet meeting and gallery spaces amidship.

  • Atrium, Lower Level (Midship): The base of the three-deck atrium with seating and the ship’s signature art sculpture. Good meeting point and photo spot. Noise is mild compared with Deck 2 at night.
  • Art Gallery (Midship, starboard): Rotating exhibitions and sales. Look for preview hours and hosted talks on sea days. Purchases are held for you and delivered to your stateroom before the cruise ends.
  • Hudson, Stuyvesant, Half Moon Rooms (Midship, port): Multipurpose rooms for enrichment talks, trivia, veterans meetups, faith gatherings, bridge and cards. These rooms also host small private groups. Check the program for times.

Manny’s Tips

  • If you want a calm spot to read on a sea day, these meeting rooms sit empty between scheduled activities.
  • For smooth disembarkation, listen for the gangway deck in the morning announcements and take the midship stairs to avoid elevator backups.

Deck 2: Plaza

Guests enjoying live music in the Rolling Stone Rock Room on Nieuw Statendam

The heart of evening activity with the main theater forward, specialty dining around the atrium and the Music Walk cluster midship.

Entertainment and Lounges

  • World Stage (Forward, entrances on Decks 2 and 3): The primary theater with wraparound LED walls. Evening shows include production dance, guest vocalists, comedians and destination talks by day. Arrive 15 to 20 minutes early for a centered view of the panoramic screen. Wheelchair seating is available at entry level.
  • Music Walk (Midship, port to starboard): Three live-music venues arranged side by side that run staggered sets so you can sample all night.
    • Billboard Onboard (Port side): Twin pianos trading chart hits, audience requests, sing-alongs and music trivia. Good pre or post dinner energy. Seating fills quickly for early sets.
    • Rolling Stone Rock Room (Center): House band plays rock and pop favorites with a small dance area. Expect louder sound and standing room at peak times.
    • B.B. King’s Blues Club (Starboard): Live R&B and soul with a dance floor. Often the last venue to shut down at night. Cocktail service at tables.
  • Notes Bar (Midship between Billboard Onboard and Rolling Stone): Dedicated whisky menu with flights and hosted tastings. Look for guided sessions on sea days. Seating is first-come outside of scheduled tastings.
  • Ocean Bar (Midship, starboard at the atrium): Classic cocktail lounge with live background music before dinner. Popular for a tasty beverage if you are dining at Pinnacle Grill, Rudi’s or Club Orange.

Specialty and Main Dining

  • Pinnacle Grill (Midship, port): Premium steak and seafood venue for dinner most nights and lunch on select sea days. Smart casual attire is standard. Reservations are recommended. Ask for a window two-top if you prefer a quieter corner.
  • Rudi’s Sel de Mer (Midship, starboard): Intimate French-inspired seafood brasserie. Signature dishes include fruits de mer platters and classic desserts. Dinner only on most itineraries. Reservations recommended.
  • Taste (Midship, near Club Orange): Small tasting and wine-centric space used for hosted events like wine blending or varietal tastings. Sessions are limited capacity and carry a fee. Book early if you want a specific seminar.
  • Club Orange Dining Room (Aft-starboard, outside the main Dining Room): Exclusive breakfast and dinner for Club Orange members and suite guests, with a few dishes not found elsewhere. Walk in at the opening for the shortest wait.
  • The Dining Room (Lower Level, Aft): Two-deck main restaurant with both set-time and open seating options. Breakfast most days, dinner nightly and sea-day lunch. Window tables are popular at sunset. Mention any dietary needs at the podium.

Manny’s Tips

  • Music Walk sets are staggered. If one venue is packed, check the room next door and rotate.
  • For World Stage, arrive 15 to 20 minutes early for center rows. Aisle seats make for faster exits when you want to catch the first Music Walk set.
  • Specialty restaurants fill quickly on the first and last formal evenings. Consider a mid-cruise reservation for a more relaxed pace.
  • Notes tastings and Taste wine sessions fill fast. Book on day one at the host stand or via the app.

Deck 3: Promenade

The Dining Room on Nieuw Statendam.

Guest services, shopping, Grand Dutch Café, casino, photo gallery and upper theater entrances.

  • World Stage (Forward, entrances on 2 and 3): Upper level theater access. Great for a higher view of the LED screen. Less legroom in some balcony rows; choose aisle seats if you prefer extra space.
  • Casino (Forward-mid, starboard): Slots, table games and a casino bar. Open only when outside territorial waters. Non-smoking policy typically applies fleetwide except for designated nights or sections. Check posted rules.
  • Guest Services (Midship, atrium): Account questions, lost and found and key card help. Lines are shortest during meal and show times.
  • Future Cruises (Midship, atrium): Discuss future itineraries and onboard booking perks. Ask about reduced deposits and added onboard credit.
  • The Shops (Midship around the atrium): Duty-free boutiques for logo wear, jewelry, fragrances and sundries. Watch the program for sale events and tasting pop-ups.
  • Grand Dutch Café (Midship, atrium): Casual café with specialty coffee and tea, Dutch snacks and light meals. Expect items like split pea soup on cooler-climate routes, open-face sandwiches, bitterballen and sweets. Complimentary bites are available, drinks and some menu items are priced à la carte. Large windows make this a pleasant mid-day stop.
  • Photo Shop and Gallery (Aft-port): View and purchase embarkation and onboard photos. Package deals are usually best value near the end of the cruise.
  • The Dining Room (Upper Level, Aft): Second level of the main restaurant with the same menus.

Manny’s Tips

  • Portions of the outdoor promenade loop this deck. Early morning is a peaceful time for a lap before breakfast.
  • Grand Dutch Cafe lines are shortest mid‑morning and after dinner. Port days are the easiest.
  • Future Cruises and Guest Services are quietest during showtimes or late lunch.

Decks 4, 5, 6, 7: Beethoven, Gershwin, Mozart, Schubert

Private balcony view from a Nieuw Statendam stateroom.

Primarily staterooms with elevator lobbies and stair towers. There are no self-service launderettes onboard. Laundry and pressing are available through your stateroom steward for a fee. Muster station details are posted on your cabin door.

Manny’s Tips

  • Use these decks as quiet fore to aft walkways when Decks 2 and 3 are crowded after shows.
  • On longer cruises, ask your steward about laundry and pressing bundles. It can simplify packing.

Deck 8: Navigation

Bridge wing view on Nieuw Statendam.

Mostly staterooms. The Bridge is above the forward section and not open to the public except for occasional hosted tours announced by the entertainment team.

Manny’s Tips

  • If you feel motion at sea, midship areas are gentler than far forward or aft when seas are lively.
  • Keep the bridge channel on your stateroom TV for real time position and weather updates.

Deck 9: Lido

Lido Pool under retractable roof on Nieuw Statendam.

Pools, main buffet marketplace, casual bites and the spa and fitness complex.

Pools and Open Deck

  • Lido Pool (Midship under a retractable magrodome): Two whirlpools, a bar and plenty of seating. Movie screenings and live music appear here on select evenings. The roof closes in cool or rainy weather which keeps the space comfortable.
  • Sea View Pool (Aft, open air with wake views): Two whirlpools and nearby Sea View Bar. Quieter than the Lido Pool and often the last to fill on a sunny sea day.

Dining on Lido

  • Lido Market (Midship): Buffet marketplace with themed stations for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Look for a custom salad station, hot carved meats, Asian and Italian counters and a dessert bar. Seating is spread across both port and starboard. Self-service is limited on some items to improve flow.
  • Canaletto (Aft-port, adjacent to Lido Market): Italian dinner venue with shared plates and house-made pastas. Per person surcharge. Reservations recommended. Window tables overlook the wake.
  • Dive-In (Starboard by the Lido Pool) Made-to-order burgers, hot dogs and fries with a toppings bar. Popular at lunch and on port-return afternoons.
  • Gelato (Near the Lido Pool): House-made gelato and sorbet by the scoop for a small charge.

Wellness

  • Greenhouse Spa & Salon (Forward, port): Full-service spa for massages, facials and salon services. The Thermal Suite includes heated loungers, aroma steam and the Hydrotherapy Pool. Day passes and length-of-cruise passes are sold in limited numbers.
  • Fitness Center (Forward, starboard): Cardio machines, free weights and resistance equipment with ocean views. Morning stretch and spin classes are offered most sea days. Minimum age rules apply for equipment use.

Manny’s Tips

  • On cool itineraries, the Lido roof stays closed which makes this the busiest indoor space. Hunt for a two-top near the windows on the starboard side for quieter seating.
  • Ask at the spa on day one about thermal suite capacity and any embark day specials.
  • Dive In and Gelato queues move quickest early lunch or later afternoon. Peak is about 12:30 to 1:30.

Deck 10: Panorama

Club HAL on Nieuw Statendam.
Club HAL – Deck 10

Family spaces forward and Asian specialty dining aft, plus a popular deli that overlooks the Lido Pool.

  • Club HAL Kids and Teens (Forward): Supervised spaces grouped by age with crafts, games and themed activities. Check-in is at program start times and space can be limited during peak hours. There is usually a separate lounge for teens with video games and evening meetups.
  • New York Deli & Pizza (Mid-aft, overlooking the Lido Pool from one deck above): Made-to-order pies, slices and deli sandwiches. Also offers bagels and breakfast items in the morning on some itineraries. Included in your cruise fare.
  • Tamarind (Aft): Upscale Pan-Asian restaurant with a focus on Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese flavors. Dinner most nights. Request a sunset table on sea days for wake views. Per person surcharge.
  • Nami Sushi (Aft inside the Tamarind space): À la carte sushi bar with specialty rolls, sashimi and small plates. You can pair a mixed seating with Tamarind companions if the host can coordinate tables.
  • Tamarind Bar (Aft) Pre and post dinner cocktails with Asian-inspired drinks. A quiet stop during the day for reading with a view.
  • Panorama Bar (Aft, outdoor): Casual bar that serves the upper sun deck. Ideal for sail away from warm-weather ports.

Manny’s Tips

  • Request a sunset table at Tamarind on sea days for wake views.
  • Nami Sushi is a la carte. It works well as a light bite before or after Tamarind.
  • New York Deli often opens for light breakfast on some itineraries. If you see bagels listed, it is a quick grab and go.

Deck 11: Sun

Guests playing pickleball on Nieuw Statendam.

Outdoor fitness and games above the pool decks.

  • Jogging and Walking Track (Aft perimeter): Marked laps for walkers and runners. Early morning is the calmest time. Avoid during peak sun lounger hours.
  • Sports Court (Aft): Basketball and other games with scheduled tournaments and open play times posted in the program.

Manny’s Tips

  • Early morning is best for the track before loungers fill nearby areas.
  • Bring water and a hat for the Sports Court. Shade can be limited on sunny days.

Deck 12: Observation

Top deck forward lounge complex with destination programming and sweeping views.

Crow’s Nest lounge on Nieuw Statendam with panoramic views.
  • Crow’s Nest with Explorations Central (Forward): Expansive lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows. Coffee bar service, reading nooks, board games and digital destination resources. Shore talks and map chats happen here during the day. It is an excellent sail-away perch in cooler climates.
  • Art Studio (Within the Observation complex): Crafts and hands on classes led by the activities team. Some sessions carry a materials fee.
  • Game Room (Adjacent to the Crow’s Nest): Card games and puzzles available.
  • Shore Excursions Desk: Posted hours for excursion questions and last-minute bookings. Staff also assist with tour waitlists and accessibility notes.

Manny’s Tips

  • Crow’s Nest can feel cool with the air conditioning. Bring a light layer if you plan to stay for a talk.
  • Window seats go first on scenic mornings. Grab coffee a few minutes before start time.

Deck 14: Sky

  • The Retreat (Forward): Reserved cabana area with padded loungers, shade, chilled water and dedicated attendants. Light bites are served at set times. Full cruise and single day cabanas can sell out on sea-day-heavy itineraries.
  • Sun Deck Terraces (Forward and mid): Additional open-air terraces for loungers and 270-degree views.

Manny’s Tips

  • Retreat cabanas sell out on sea day heavy cruises. If you are flexible, port days are easier to book and sometimes discounted.
  • Sun is strong on the top decks. Reapply sunscreen and take shade breaks.
